Elua genitori dicas sempre: “Ni havas fortuno pro Publius. Il esas bona mastrulo.” Ma Flavia malgre to timas il poke.

Flavia odoretas kurte an la roz-oleo boteleto.

An la parieti esas multa tabuli.

Flavia esas quik tranquila e facas trista vizajo. “To ne esas grava!”

Ma elua mastrino dicas: “Hodie me facas to sole. Tu mustas ankore unfoye kuror al merkato. Me obliviis komprar la fisho por ca-vespero. Hastez, ke tu recevos ankore fresha fisho!” Quik Claudia marcheskas.

Publius questionas tre tranquile: “Ube esis la stolo?” “

Exakta en ica tabulo. E nun ol desaparabas. La stolo esas tre precoza. Me ne volas vidar ica sklavino hike plus.”

”No, to ne esas mea stolo. La bordumo di mea stolo esis blua. Certe la sklavo-yunino furtabas ol."

Ca-instante Claudia retrovenas.

Publius regardas Flavia.

“Me savis exakte ke tu ne furtabis la stolo.”

Flavia tre joyas.

“Ka me darfos restar hike?”

“Kompreneble, quala stulta questionacho esas to?”, grunas la administranto.

E nun anke Flavia pensas, ke Publius esas vere bona mastrulo.

The disappeared stole

Ready !, groaned Flavia and wiped herself  of the sweat from the forehead.  She just cleaned up the hot-air room and during the labour she has been sweating. Already the heating-caldron has been heated from past early morning.  Flavia felt as if in fire.Soon the first guest will come for bathing in the
(thermal spring) spa. Flavia and other slaves must labour much till the arrival of the guest.

When she runs out of the hot-air room she almost collides with Publius.  Out of her bucket splashes some water to the clean tunic of Publius.  Publius is the master of all slaves who labour in the spa.  He regards Flavia angrily.  "Pay attention! Do you not have eyes in your head? In the massage-chamber  still lacks handkerchives. Procure fresh handkerchives and bring them here!"

Flavia bowed hear head in obedient manner and started running fast. Her parents have say always "We are forunate to have Publius He is a good master". But Flavia, in spite of that fears him a little. Fast she fetched the fresh hankerchieves out of the laundry and took them into the massage-chamber.

Here her mother prepares everything for visitors. She controls the olive-bottles and scourging brushes of metal.  With them one scrapes away oneself one's skin. After the bathing the Roman wants  massage and after this anointed with   odoriforous olive.  Flavia briefly smells at the rose-olive bottle.

After this she rapidly runs into the chamber for changing the articles of clothing. At the wall are many shelves. Here the guest can leave their clothings  Flavia attends to them when they(guests) are in the bathroom.

By then arrives the first Roman-lady.   In the forenoon only ladies are allowed in spa. The men are  to enter before afternoon. "Salutations Claudia :, she  calls not loudly. Just then old roan0lady is arriving with her slave Claudia. Flavia is glad about this since Claudia always has good humour.  First she helps her mistress to derobe herself and after this she goes to Claudia.

During every visit she has interesting news for Flavis.  Claudia just begins to narrate with joy the stoy about her mistress when the lady places herself before the girl   "Dont gossip here", she scolds the girl, " You are here to labour and not for  pleasure". After this she turns herself to Flavia. "And you attend well to my clothing!". Flavia is at once  quiet and makes sad face. "This is not grave!", Claudia consoles her when  the non-friendly Roman-lady leaves the room for change of clothing.

Claudia quietly goes through  narration of her story.  "You know indeed that my mistress is very miopic Recently she had invited to feast at senator. In his lobby is a statue of white marble. And imagine. My mistress salutes the statue!  She thought that it was senator in his white  toga Now Flavia also can smile.

Regretably the mistress of Claudia returns soon. Claudia at once runs to her to help her put on (clothing). But her mistress says "today I will do this alone" You must at once run to the market. I forgot to buy fish for this evening.  Hurry so that you will get fresh fish. At once Claudia starts walking.

The old lady needs log for dressing up. Starting she holds her every clothing very close to her eyes.  But finally she indeed succeeds. Soon after she .........Roman-lady returns.  She completely does not wish to notice Flavia. and puts on her things.  Suddenly she cries loud and springs herself on Flavia.  "What did you do with my stole", she cries to Flavia, "where you have hidden it? I at once want to speak to the administator"

When the Publius comes the roman-lady at once starts screaming  " This slave-girl has stolen my stole!."

Flavia wants to run away.  She stands with bowed head and she does not hear regarding anyone.

Publius asks very politely: " Where  was the stole?".

" Exactly in this shelf.  And now it has disappeared.   The stole is very precious. I dont want to see this slave here any more."

Flavia begins to become pale like cheese on pavement. Hopefully she may be rested from labouring in the spa.  Publius moves towards the shelf, to what Roman-lady showed. iIn the adjoining shelf  was a single stole. He pulls out it and holds it before the lady.  The stole   is of (bonega) stuff and has precious embroidered green trimming.

"No this is not my srole.  The trimming of mea stole is blue.  Certainly the slave-girl hac stolen it."

At this instant Claudia returns.  She   carries above her arm the stole with blue trimmings

"Oh here indeed it is!", calls Claudiam  when she sees the stole in the hands of Publius.  " By mistake my mistress put on the non-just stole,  She cannot see well and pardon us much. "

And after this one can say to any one that Claudia is the disappearing again.

This time she takes with her the correct stole.  Suddenly the unfriendly Roman-lady has become silent. Hastily she wears her stole on herself.  After this she disappears as rapidly as Claudia but without saying one word.  Publius looks at Flavia

"I knew exactly that you had not stolen the stole."

Flavia becomes joyful. :

"Whether I wil have to stay away from here? ".

"Undertandably what kind of silly ill-question is this?", growls the administrator.

And now also Flavia thinks that Publius is a very good master.
